An unregulated spillway conveying floods from the reservoir into the river bed is located at the left embankment of the m high main dam. This facility was designed for a discharge of m3/s. Labyrinth weirs provide higher discharge capacity than conventional weirs, with the ability to pass large flows at comparatively low heads. Labyrinth weirs are primarily used as spillways for dams where the spillway width is restricted. In recent years, many research investigations have considered the hydraulic performance of labyrinth weirs, particularly as dependent on the geometric features.

Vortex Spillway: Test Study on a Hydraulic Model. The paper deals with an experimental study on a model of the forced vortex of Eur hanging reservoir realized by ACEA (Rome). Some vortex characteristics are investigated and, in particularly, the influence of inlet shape on the discharge characteristics is pointed out. Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) evaluated the initial design of the Due intake and spillway facilities using a Froude-scaled physical model for river discharges ranging from the intake.

PURPOSE OF STUDY This scale model investigation provides information pertaining to the hydraulic performance of proposed modifications to the existing spillway of Friant Dam. Various configurations ofthe spillway were modeled, as well as various air-inflated rubber-gates to aid in the design.

Other related purposes include. A scale physical hydraulic model of Arthur R. Bowman Dam was used to provide rating data to the top of a proposed 6-ft-high parapet wall (elevation ft) on the dam crest for operation of the spillway only and combined operation of both the spillway and outlet works flows.

The model was also used. “Hydraulic model study of a large labyrinth weir spillway.” 2nd International Conference on Hydraulic Modeling, Stratford-upon-Avon, U.K., June.

This stepped spillway is part of the Tekai Hydroelectric Project (HEP) developed by Tenaga Nasional Sdn Berhad (TNB), in Jerantut District of Pahang State, West Malaysia and is similar to the. Babb, A. “Hydraulic model study of the Boardman Reservoir Spillway.” R.L. Reservoir dams are often confronted with two fundamental problems, the first relates to the control of.

This paper describes the design and hydraulic model study conducted for a labyrinth weir arrangement proposed for the South Heart Dam in northern Alberta. The model study permitted the designers to adopt a more efficient two-cycle weir for the same spillway width as opposed to an initially proposed three-cycle labyrinth weir.

This book and the Problem Solution Manual will be invaluable to students, professionals, and specialists as practical reference guides to different hydraulic processes. The book follows water: from its entry to the reservoir, in the reservoir, in the approach channel, on the control structure, in the discharge channel and in the downstream river up to a control section.

The model is applied to a case study to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of flow over spillway crest profile by simulating the velocity distribution, pressure distribution and discharge characteristics.

The numerical model results are compared with the physical model results and found to. the spillway, it was necessary to study the flow conditions when the outlet works and spillway were discharging, both separately and simultaneously.

The model of the preliminary spillway, Figures. and. 9, was. tested for a range of discharges and, in general, was found to perform satisfactorily. A physical hydraulic model study has been conducted to investigate the hydraulic performance of the siphons in order to establish reliable stage discharge relationships. The existing bellmouth siphon system was found to be unsuitable, causing the siphons to prime suddenly at discharges of around 3 m 3 /s."Hydraulic model study of the Boardman Reservoir spillway."
